2. Bayworld
Spend the morning at the Bayworld Oceanarium in Summerstrand and witness live snake feeding, crocodiles, seals and penguins. They also have a display of a reconstructed life-size dinosaur and an actual meteorite which will keep the kids amazed.
3. Lunch with a view at La Fiesta
Walking distance from the Bayworld Oceanaruem will bring you to the La Fiesta Restaurant. The family-owned restaurant has over 30 years of experience and offers great meals for breakfast, lunch and supper and are open till late on weekends and during the holiday period.
4. Ice Skating in Baywest
Cool down after a hot day on the beach at the Baywest Ice Rink. This offers lots of fun for the kids and parents alike. Visit theicerink.co.za for their rates and times
5. Gravity Cafe and Trampoline Park
One of the best toasted steak sandwiches in town can be found at Gravity Cafe, situated in the Gravity trampoline park. Let the kids jump on various trampoline courses which are under constant supervision while the parents can enjoy one of the sumptuous items on their vast menu.
6. Dual Zip Line
Take your spouse on the dual zip line at the Adrenaline Addo zip line and race through the fresh citrus air in an unusually romantic way.

7. Addo Elephant Park
The Addo elephant park is only 30km out of Port Elizabeth and offers a view of the big 5. The well tarred roads nested in the middle of a 24000-hectare park offers much more than just the big 5. There are many little creatures roaming the park, beautiful birds and rich fauna and flora which will leave you with an unforgettable day to remember. Don’t panic when the Elephants take a stroll next to your vehicle.
You can pull off at various places to take a break or at the allocated picnic spots so you might want to pack some yummy food and drink.
8. Maitlands Dunes
If you ever thought of climbing Everest then why don’t you test yourself with the Maitlands dunes? Its less than 2km open trail to the top with the ocean behind you. A strenious but very much worth the effort hike.
9. Donkin Reserve
The narrow lighthouse with even narrower steps and ladders at the Donkin reserve gives you the best view of the Port Elizabeth city centre and the climb to the top is an unusual but fun experience.
10. Sardinia Bay Beach Port Elizabeth
Port Elizabeth has many stunning beaches but one of my favourites is the Sarbinia bay beach. Climb a small sand dune before gazing at the magnificent ocean. Make it to the bottom and enjoy the sand, build a sandcastle and jump in for a swim.
11. Sacramento Hiking Trail in Port Elizabeth
Amongst the many hiking trails in Port Elizabeth, the Sacramento trail is truly wonderful. The starting point takes you through loads of indigenous flora and fauna and the return route is alongside the ocean. You will need some sneaker or hiking boots for this one
There are not that many Halaal accommodation establishments in Port Elizabeth so be sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment.
