After a couple of years of pandemic-related calendar rearranging, SANParks announced this week that this year’s National Parks Week will take place from September 11 to September 16.
Entry fees are waived at almost all SANParks gates for a working week each year. Residents of South Africa will save R110 per adult per day while visiting the Kruger Park, compared to the R68 per adult per day entry fees for the Garden Route National Park’s Tsitsikamma sector.
As per usual, free entry does not apply to the Namaqua National Park, or the Boulders Penguin Colony in the Table Mountain park. There is no access to SANParks accommodation either, and all paid-for visitor activities within parks will operate as normal too.
“This program strives to educate the general public about SANParks’ stewardship of the nation’s natural heritage. All South Africans must have access to the country’s natural heritage if we are to instill a sense of pride in it across the entire population “Hapiloe Sello, the interim CEO of SANParks, made a statement.
Because they will soon be responsible for protecting this heritage, we want our young people in particular to seize this chance.
